Brazilian National Service for Industrial Training (SENAI) and Dr Richard Maponya Institute for Skills and Entrepreneurship Development NPC to technical vocational collaboration & exchange Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)

Background: Dr Richard Maponya Institute for Skills and Entrepreneurship Development NPC is welcoming the representatives of the Brazilian National Service for Industrial Training (SENAI) from the 2nd May to the 6th May 2016 in South Africa, culminating in the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two organizations.
The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) takes place on the 6th May 2016 in Johannesburg.
The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) initiates a process that leads to the implementation of the Work Plan over the first five years by the two organizations, on a six monthly basis. This current proposal is the result of understandings that were previously established between SENAI and the Dr Richard Maponya Institute to structure a center for professional training in South Africa, grounded on the SENAI structure and focused on the implementation of SENAI’s Professional Education Methodology.
Purpose: The purpose of the MoU is for the Exchange of Professional Qualification Methodology between Dr Richard Maponya Institute for Skills and Entrepreneurship Development NPC – South Africa, and the National Service for Industrial Training (SENAI) – Brazil.
The Rationale: The planning, implementation and development of a professional training center aimed at fulfilling current and future demands of the job market and entrepreneurship ecosystem require a set of studies, resources and activities that guide all projects implementation phases. One of the most important stages is that of clearing and objectively defining the pedagogical project of the professional training center. The project is the essence for the Institute’s educational proposal and is an instrument through which the Institute’s community can develop joint efforts, for which personal and collective responsibilities will be attributed so that the established objectives can be attained. Aiming at such objectives the pedagogical model for the teaching and learning processes are proposed in the Work Plan.
Exposure to the South African landscape: During their visit from the 2nd May to 6th May 2016 the delegation from SENAI will visit the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET), South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA), Human Resources Development Council of South Africa (HRDC SA), University of Johannesburg (Faculty of Management, and the Resolution Circle), Manufacturing Engineering and Related Services SETA (merSETA), Marcopolo (the Brazilian company operating in South Africa), Ekurhuleni West TVET College, and Dr Richard Maponya Institute offices. The purpose of the visits to these organizations is for the Brazilian delegation to familiarise themselves with the education, skills, and entrepreneurship development landscape in South Africa
