Dr Richard Maponya was inspired by the Brazilian Industry System (SISTEMA INDUSTRIA) to establish the Dr Richard Maponya Institute for Skills and Entrepreneurship Development. This was during his visit to Brazil as a member of the South African Presidential Business Delegation with President Jacob Zuma in 2010. Specifically, he was touched by the work of the Brazilian National Service for Industrial Training (SENAI). The Brazilian National Confederation of Industry (CNI), www.cni.org.br , is the official and highest-level organization representing Brazilian industry. Since its founding in 1938, CNI has defended domestic business and manufacturing interests, acting as the main interlocutor with the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of government, as well as with various organizations and entities in Brazil and around the world.
