HISTORY
From Human Capital Development through
football to comprehensive Commercial and Socio-Economic Development Agencies
Group
1988: On the 1st May 1988 Sam left for the Federal
Republic of Germany to undergo Business
Management Training. During his stay in Frankfurt am Main, he played amateur
soccer for SC Goldstein Frankfurt. This
is the club after which his football club, 1.FC Cometsa Goldstones 1997 is named (Goldstones = Goldstein). He
returned to South Africa on the 31st October 1989.
1990: On the 22nd September 1990 Sam returned to
the Federal Republic of Germany under
Siemens AG Corporate Management Training Programme. He was again stationed at
Cologne. He immediately rejoined SC Goldstein (Frankfurt am Main), while based
in Cologne. He was later transferred from SC Goldstein Frankfurt to Köln
Neubrueck FC.
1994: At the beginning of the South African Soccer
season (then January - December) Sam
rejoined Wits University FC (as a Public Relations Officer). During this year Sam continued working for
Siemens Ltd at the same time.
1995: Sam resigned from Wits University FC to
focus on his career at Siemens Ltd and later at ABSA Bank.
1997: On the 1st August 1997 1.FC Cometsa
Goldstones 1997 (a football club) is launched. The 1st of August is celebrated as the anniversary date of Cometsa.
1998: Project 2002 (from 1998 to 2002) was launched
and referred to as Development Phase. We initially introduced Saturday classes in Sports Coaching,
administration, management and leadership.
2000: The Introduction Phase (2002 – 2007) was
launched, to take the organization to a ten year landmark.
2001: On the 7th March 2001 Cometsa Sports
Development Agency is registered as an Association Incorporated under Section
21.
2006: The launch of Cometsa website, www.cometsa.co.za ; and Cometsa “RELEASE”
Concept. Forms exchange partnership with SV Gehlerte.V., football club in
Rheinland-Pfalz (Germany)
2007: Cometsa
Friends & Supporters Club, a non-profit organization, and Cometsa Mafrika
Band are formed. Cometsa Mafrika Music Studio is built. Cometsa is ten years
old (1st August 2007).
2008: TsimaCometsa
Management CC t/a Cometsa Human Capital Investments, and Cometsa Professional
Management Services are launched.
2009: Sam
Tsima leaves Motorola SA (Pty) Ltd to run Cometsa Group full time

Sam
Tsima is Executive Business Coach, and the President & Chairperson: Cometsa
GoC International (Pty) Ltd , Member of the Senior Council of the Southern
African – German Chamber of Commerce & Industry; Non-Executive Director of
South Africa – German Training Services (SAGTS), former CEO of Dr Richard Maponya Institute for Skills and Entrepreneurship
Development; Member of the Panel of Advisors: Shanduka Black Umbrellas
Incubator (Gauteng Region), former Vice-President: Stakeholder Relations, Institute
of People Management (IPM); a Registered Coach & Member of Coaches &
Mentors of South Africa (Comensa)
Sam is a former Programme Manager: Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE),
Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS), University of Pretoria.
Before Sam went full time on Cometsa Group
in July 2009, he was Regional Human Resources Director: Sub-Sahara Africa at
Motorola SA (Pty) Ltd, reporting into the Middle East Africa Region in Dubai.
He is the former Manager: Centre of Expertise-Group Diversity Management at
Sasol Group, responsible for Employment Equity, Global Diversity &
Inclusion, Black Economic Empowerment (from HR perspective), Accelerated Leadership
Development Programme (ALDP), and Sasol HIV/Aids Response Programme
(SHARP).Before joining Sasol, on the 1st December 2002, Sam was with
ABSA Group for seven years (10/1995-11/2002) as the Group Consultant:
Employment Equity.
He worked for Siemens AG (Cologne, Germany)
as Corporate Trainee for two years, and Siemens Ltd (Johannesburg, South
Africa) as Commercial Administrator, and later Head of Commercial Training for
three years. Sam has a strong Commercial Administration background after
training and working in Germany over four years (1988 – 1992). He did his
training at Carl Duisberg Gesellschaft (Cologne), Kuehne & Nagel Luftfracht
GmbH (Frankfurt International Airport), Lufthansa German Airlines Aircargo
Centre (Frankfurt International Airport) and Siemens AG (Cologne) in Germany.
Sam is fluent in German Language and has
the following German Language qualifications: Diplom Deutsch (Studiengemeintschaft Darmstadt) and Zertifikat Deutsch Stufe 5 (Carl
Duisberg Centre Cologne).
He is also qualified in Industriekaufmann (IHK, Germany),
Certificate in Commercial Administration
(CATS – South Africa German Training Services), Bachelor of Commerce - Transport Economics & Business
Management (UNISA), Certificate in Sport
Management (Allenby), Certificate in Sport
Psychology (Intec), Youth
Development Through Football Coach (YDF, GIZ), Level 1 Soccer Coaching Certificate (South African Football
Association). Sam is the former Public Relations Officer
(PRO) of Wits University FC (now Bidvest Wits FC), in the Professional Soccer
League (PSL).
